Antique

My grandma worked for the GSA on Inauguration services in the 1970s and 1980s. I was rifling through her collection of ephemera when I came across this remarkable souvenir. This is from Nixon’s 1973 swearing-in. It’s┬ájarring and unnerving┬áto see the seal of the President of the United States wrapped around toxic chemicals. It’s similar to the feeling of seeing an American flag on a missile. Nixon would resign one year later.
