Letter 56

Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah, Third Congressional District)

2236 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Phone: (202) 225-7751

After his insulting comments about ACA recipients and their fabricated preference for consuming iPhones (not unlike the “welfare queen” images perpetuated by the Reagan Administration in the 1980s), I re-wrote to Representative Chaffetz:

Kathryn Allen is a private citizen – not a politician by trade, but a doctor – who decided to challenge Representative Chaffetz for his seat in Utah’s 3rd district after attending a town hall meeting (some of which became viral in their fury at the Congressman’s behavior). This awesome evocation of the power of local activism and the spirit of uprising that this election has created in so many people is exciting and makes me optimistic. Democratic politicians are urging people to run for local office, to disrupt the status quo, and to challenge an incumbent who might otherwise slide into an easy re-election. Allen is one of them. Your turn.
